Undergraduate drowns in Bayelsa creek over N300 bet

A sad incident occurred in Bayelsa State when a university student drowned in Ekoli Creek after a risky bet.

The victim, a 200-level Chemical Engineering student at Federal University, Otuoke, reportedly bet N300 with some people that he could swim across the river. Unfortunately, while swimming, he disappeared underwater and has not been seen since.

The incident happened on Sunday, February 23, in Yenagoa. As of now, his body has not been recovered, and his identity remains unknown.

Eyewitnesses said the student confidently took the challenge but got into trouble while in the water. His disappearance has left many in shock, and efforts are ongoing to locate his body.

This tragic event is a reminder of the dangers of unsafe swimming and making risky bets. Authorities are expected to continue searching for his remains.

A student of the school who spoke on condition of anonymity, said;

Yesterday morning, a 200-level Chemical Engineering student made a bet with his coursemates to swim across the river.

The school management and the state police have not yet made any statements about the incident.
