A 27-year-old woman, Oluchi Nzemechi, from Uzoagba in Ikeduru LGA, Imo State, has been arrested for allegedly killing her 31-year-old partner, Kelechi Nzemechi.

Police spokesperson ASP Henry Okoye stated that Oluchi admitted to the crime during questioning, revealing that her partner had introduced her to internet fraud, known as ‘yahoo yahoo’.

According to Okoye, Oluchi confessed that on June 2, she and the deceased had a heated argument over his refusal to share a part of the 250 million Rupiah they had scammed from an Indonesian victim. During the altercation, she stabbed him with a kitchen knife.

He said,

‘’The suspect further revealed that in a bid to cover up her criminal acts, she swiftly wrote on a piece of paper; ‘you think you can eat my money and go free, I am baba for the boys, I am coming for your wife and your child including your family’ and placed it on the lifeless body of the victim and ran away from the house. She also stated that she has been living with the victim since 2019 and has a child for him.”he said.

Okoye added that efforts are underway to retrieve the 250 million Rupiah for possible return to its rightful owner. He mentioned that Oluchi is being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department and will face court proceedings.
