The Nigerian Senate has once again become the centre of controversy, with Senator Natasha Uduaghan of Kogi Central facing backlash for her actions in the chamber.
Many Nigerians, including social media influencer Jack, have accused her of stirring unnecessary drama by refusing to comply with Senate rules.
The issue revolves around Order 6, a Senate rule that requires all senators to stay in their assigned seats during debates to maintain order.
Recently, some senators switched political parties, leading to a reshuffling of seats. While most lawmakers accepted their new placements without issues, Senator Natasha strongly opposed the change.
Instead of following Order 6, she tried to justify her stance using a different rule, causing more tension in the chamber. Critics argue that such emotional outbursts do not help progress but instead create unnecessary distractions.
Many Nigerians believe that her behaviour is more about seeking attention than standing up for any real cause. Social media posts question her approach, asking why she resorts to shouting instead of addressing issues calmly.
The South-South Women Congress has also condemned her actions. The group, led by Mrs. Roli Akpomedaye, released a statement from Warri calling her conduct “unruly and disrespectful.” They urged her to apologise or face possible sanctions, emphasizing that Senate rules must be followed by all lawmakers.
