Rapper A$AP Rocky is set to become a football club owner after being cleared of assault charges. The artist, whose real name is Rakim Athelston Mayers, was found not guilty of using a semi-automatic weapon during a 2021 altercation in Hollywood.
Following the verdict, reports say Rocky will be part of a group purchasing Tranmere Rovers, an English League Two club.
The takeover deal, worth £15 million, has been in progress for nearly a year. The group plans to acquire over 80% of the club from current owner Mark Palios.
Indonesian investors, Santini Group, will keep their minority stake and stay involved with the club at Prenton Park.
This move adds A$AP Rocky to the growing list of celebrities investing in football. Fans will be eager to see how this ownership change affects Tranmere Rovers in the future.
