Police dismiss Portable’s ‘Madman’ claims, insist the singer remains wanted

The Ogun State Police Command has rejected claims by popular singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, that he is mentally unstable and receiving psychiatric treatment. The police insist that the singer must report himself for investigation.

Portable was declared wanted on Monday, February 17, after he was accused of attacking officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

The officials—identified as TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—were reportedly assaulted while carrying out their duties at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, Ogun State.

According to reports, the officials first met Portable’s father at Odogwu Bar, where he claimed his son was not available. Shortly after, Portable allegedly arrived with a firearm and nine thugs, attacking the unarmed officials. They sustained injuries but managed to escape and reported the incident to the police.

On Tuesday, February 18, Portable released a video claiming he is a “madman” undergoing treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Abeokuta. However, the police dismissed this claim, saying he is still wanted for questioning.

Nine of Portable’s associates have been arrested, but the singer reportedly fled the scene and has been in hiding since the incident. The police have urged him to surrender himself for investigation.
