Osun, Lagos: Tinubu desperate to retain power at all cost – Atiku

Former Vice President and 2023 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has accused President Bola Tinubu and the APC of doing everything possible to stay in power. He claims that the ruling party is using force and intimidation to suppress democracy in Nigeria.

Atiku made these remarks following recent events in Osun and Lagos states. In Osun, violence broke out when APC-backed thugs allegedly tried to take control of local government offices. The attack led to the death of one person.

Meanwhile, in Lagos, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and police officers stormed the State House of Assembly, raising fears of political interference.

In a statement, Atiku said Nigerians must stop Tinubu and his government from undermining democracy. He condemned the APC for using intimidation and lawlessness to control power.

According to him, the people of Osun showed great courage by resisting the APC’s attempt to hijack the local government elections. He commended their bravery and urged security agencies to remain professional and neutral in the upcoming elections.

“These are dangerous times,” Atiku warned. “The APC no longer respects democracy and is using force to hold on to power. But Nigerians must resist. We must not allow our democracy to be destroyed.”

He further called on President Tinubu and his supporters to stop creating political instability. He said the people of Nigeria want good governance, not chaos. He urged citizens to stand strong in defending their rights, emphasizing that “eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”

Atiku’s message is clear: Nigerians must remain alert and protect democracy from those who seek to manipulate it for their own gain.
