Arsenal secured a 2-0 victory over Leicester City in their Premier League match on Saturday. Mikel Merino scored both goals in the second half, helping the Gunners take all three points at the King Power Stadium. This win keeps Arsenal four points behind league leaders Liverpool.
However, Arsenal legend Ian Wright was not happy with Raheem Sterling’s performance. Wright criticized Sterling for being caught offside twice despite having a clear view of the Leicester defensive line. Sterling was later substituted in the 69th minute, with Merino coming on to replace him.
Speaking during halftime on Premier League Productions, Wright praised young midfielder Ethan Nwaneri for his impressive display in the front three. However, he was disappointed with Sterling and Leandro Trossard’s finishing.
“Trossard had a good chance, but he should have done better. With the kind of forwards we have, you must at least make good contact with the ball,” Wright said.
He was particularly frustrated with Sterling’s offside mistakes. “That is unacceptable. He could see the whole line and had space. As a manager, this is the kind of thing that makes you pull your hair out,” Wright added.
Arsenal will now prepare for their next match against West Ham United next weekend.
