A lecturer at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Dr. Chukwudi Michael Okoye, has spoken about the incident where he was physically attacked by a female student, Precious Mbakwe.

Dr. Okoye, who teaches in the Department of Theater Arts and Film Studies, shared his account in a video interview with the university’s media team.

However, he stated that he will not comment further on the issue until the school’s investigation panel completes its inquiry.

In a video interview with the media outlet of the school, Dr Chukwudi Michael Okoye, who lectures in the Department of Theater Arts and Film Studies, said;

‘’I was leaving a classroom to my office when I saw the lady along the corridor. She was making a Tiktok video and I needed to pass and so I just tapped her and said excuse me and walked off. When she made that insulting comment, I had to come back to first ascertain if she was my student in the department and then I noticed it was a Tiktok video and needed her to delete it,. I actually asked her to delete it right in front of me. When she refused, I stretched my hand to confiscate the phone and that was when all hell was let loose”

The university has set up a panel to investigate the incident, and many are waiting to see the outcome.
