Virgil van Dijk, the captain of Liverpool, has expressed his frustration with Everton after their dramatic 1-1 draw in the Premier League derby.

Van Dijk accused the Toffees of treating the match like their “cup final,” emphasizing the intensity with which they played against Liverpool.

Liverpool seemed set to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table when Mohamed Salah scored in the 76th minute.

However, Everton’s James Tarkowski scored a brilliant goal deep into added time, bringing the match level and sparking wild celebrations at Goodison Park.

As chaos followed the final whistle, Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucoure taunted Liverpool fans by shushing them as he celebrated.

Van Dijk, speaking to TNT Sport, said that Everton’s tactics were typical, focusing on direct play and battling for every ball.

He added that while it was a big boost for Everton, it was a significant setback for Liverpool.

Despite the draw, Van Dijk acknowledged how difficult Everton made the match, similar to their encounters last season.
