A tragic incident occurred in Owaza, Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State, where gunmen shot and killed a fresh graduate, Precious Chidozie James.

Chidozie, a Petrochemical Engineering graduate from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, was preparing to begin his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.

Unfortunately, he lost his life in a deadly attack while accompanying his elder brother, Enyeribe James, on a night patrol.

Enyeribe is the head of the Ukwa East/Ukwa West anti-bunkering task force under the Independent Petroleum Marketers of Nigeria (IPMAN). The attack happened at around 2:15 am on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

According to reports, the gunmen came out from the bush and opened fire on their vehicles. Chidozie was shot dead instantly, while his brother managed to escape into the bush.

Police officers from the Obehie Police Station, led by DSP Ibrahim, arrived at the scene at around 9:35 am and removed Chidozie’s body.

The tragic incident has left the community in shock, raising concerns about security in the area.
