A woman in Brazil suffered serious burns after her phone suddenly exploded in her pocket while she was shopping at a supermarket. The shocking incident was caught on CCTV.
The woman, who has not been named, was shopping with her husband in Anápolis on Saturday when her Motorola Moto E32 phone overheated and exploded in her back pocket. The explosion caused her dress to catch fire.
Surveillance footage shows her calmly walking down an aisle when flames suddenly erupt from her pants. She quickly reacts, trying to remove the burning device.
She was rushed to Alfredo Abraão Hospital, where doctors treated her for burns on her hand, forearm, back, and buttocks. Some of her hair was also burned. She was scheduled to return for more treatment.
Her husband, Mateus Lima, said she was deeply shaken by the experience. The incident serves as a reminder to be cautious with smartphones, especially when carrying them in pockets for long periods.
Authorities have not yet confirmed what caused the phone to explode.
