US: FEMA should be terminated – Trump

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has called for the termination of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). He claims the agency is slow and ineffective in handling disaster relief.

Trump made this statement on his Truth Social platform, saying FEMA has spent millions of dollars in Democrat-controlled areas while ignoring places like North Carolina, which was hit by a severe hurricane last year.

He added that FEMA is now under review and investigation.

In all-caps, Trump criticized FEMA under President Joe Biden’s leadership, calling it a “disaster.” He argued that individual states should manage disaster relief on their own, as it would save money and be more efficient.

Earlier in January, Trump had already expressed dissatisfaction with FEMA’s response efforts. He suggested that federal funds should go directly to states instead of being managed by FEMA.

During visits to disaster-struck areas in North Carolina and California, Trump promised government support while clashing with Democratic officials over how disaster relief should be handled.

Trump’s remarks have sparked debate over whether FEMA should continue operating or if disaster response should be left entirely to state governments.
