President Donald Trump has said it is too soon to support Vice President JD Vance as the Republican candidate for the 2028 presidential election.
During an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier on Sunday, Trump was asked if he saw Vance as his “successor” and the Republican nominee for 2028. He responded, “No, but he’s very capable.”
Trump praised Vance’s work so far but said it was still early to make such a decision. “I think you have a lot of very capable people,” he said. “So far, I think he’s doing a fantastic job. It’s too early, we’re just starting.”
The full interview is set to air during the Super Bowl broadcast.
