Wreckage of missing Bering Air plane carrying 10 people found, three confirmed dead

The wreckage of a small plane that went missing in western Alaska has been found, but sadly, there are no survivors.

According to the US Coast Guard (USCG), the Bering Air flight, carrying ten people, crashed about 34 miles southeast of Nome.

Three individuals were found dead inside the wreckage, while the remaining seven are believed to be inside but cannot be accessed due to the condition of the plane.

The flight departed from Unalakleet at 2:38 PM on Thursday, but contact was lost less than an hour later. The journey usually takes just under an hour.

On Saturday morning, the Coast Guard announced the end of its search operation. In a statement on X, they expressed condolences to the families of those affected by this tragic incident.
