Nigerians defend corrupt Leaders yet complain about corruption – EFCC boss, Olukoyede

Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), recently raised a concern about Nigerians’ attitude towards corruption. He pointed out that while many Nigerians publicly condemn corruption, they often defend leaders accused of corruption when they face legal consequences.

Olukoyede made this statement during a meeting with officials from the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), led by Chris Olukolade, on Friday, January 31, in Abuja.

The EFCC Chairman also shared his approach to tackling corruption. Since taking on the role, Olukoyede has focused more on preventing corruption rather than just prosecuting wrongdoers. He emphasized that intelligence gathering has played a crucial role in the EFCC’s recent successes in fighting corruption, making the Commission’s work more effective.
