Shehu Sani, a former senator from Kaduna Central, has expressed his confidence that the Nigerian Armed Forces will succeed in defeating terrorist groups such as Boko Haram, ISWAP, bandits, and the Lakurawa group. In his statement, Sani pointed out that no army in Africa is as heavily engaged as Nigeria’s military, which is fighting terrorism on multiple fronts.

Sani took to X (formerly Twitter), writing, “The Nigerian Armed Forces are fighting ISWAP and Boko Haram in the North East and battling bandits and Lakurawa terrorists in the North West.” He acknowledged the immense effort of the Nigerian Army, praising their patriotism and sacrifices in securing the country. He ended his message by saying, “We shall overcome.”

His comments come after a strong warning from General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff. Musa stated that any members of the Lakurawa terrorist group encountered by Nigerian troops would be eliminated. This comes after a recent court ruling that officially classified the Lakurawa sect as a terrorist organization, giving Nigerian troops legal authority to take action against them.

With the backing of the law, the Nigerian military is now empowered to take decisive steps in eradicating the Lakurawa group, alongside other terrorist groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP. The Nigerian Armed Forces remain committed to protecting the country and eliminating threats posed by these terror organizations.
