Nigerian Grammy-winning artist Tems has canceled her upcoming concert in Kigali, Rwanda, due to the ongoing tensions between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The concert was originally scheduled for March 22, 2025, as part of her “Born in the Wild” tour.
Tems shared the news on her Instagram, explaining that she didn’t know about the conflict when she first announced the show. She apologized for promoting the event without understanding the situation, stating that she never intended to be disrespectful to real-world issues.
Recently, the conflict in the region escalated when the M23 rebel group, which broke away from the DRC army over 10 years ago, captured the city of Goma in North Kivu province. Rwanda is accused of supporting the group, which has raised concerns in the region.
In her message, Tems expressed her sincere apologies to fans in Rwanda and promised to reschedule her performance once the situation improves. Fans will have to wait for further updates about the concert.
