Boko Haram Terrorist Arrested In Taraba

The Nigerian Army has arrested a suspected Boko Haram terrorist in Taraba State. The suspect, Gambo Grema, was taken into custody during an operation by the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS). This operation focused on tackling terrorism in the region.

Grema, also known as Gamboi, was arrested on January 26, 2025, in Mai-Hula, located in the Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State. The arrest followed solid intelligence that pointed to his connection with Boko Haram activities in the area.

During initial questioning, Grema reportedly confessed to being involved with a Boko Haram network that had infiltrated Taraba State.

“Their objective was to engage in kidnapping for ransom to fund terrorist activities and establish a new operational cell in the region.

“Grema also revealed that members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) were working alongside them to execute other criminal operations,”
 the statement read.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, the Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the operation’s success and reaffirmed the army’s commitment to protecting the people of Taraba State. He also stressed the importance of continued cooperation between security forces in the fight against terrorism. The army’s efforts to ensure peace and security in the region remain strong, with the support of local and national authorities.
