As the 2026 Osun State governorship election draws near, internal issues within the All Progressives Congress (APC) are beginning to surface. Tajudeen Lawal, the party’s chairman in the state, has issued a stern warning to party members to avoid fueling division over their preferred candidates for governor.

In a statement, Lawal expressed concern over some APC members publicly campaigning for their chosen candidates, even though the party has not yet lifted the ban on such activities. He stressed that this kind of behavior is damaging to the party and could hurt its reputation.

The call for unity comes as different groups within the party push for the governorship ticket to be zoned to the Osun West Senatorial District. Some of these groups are advocating for former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to be given the right of first refusal for the position, while others have criticized him and former APC National Chairman Bisi Akande for trying to influence the selection of a candidate.

Lawal reassured the party members that the leadership has not yet chosen a favored candidate for the governorship race and emphasized that the decision will be made based on the party’s rules and procedures. He urged all members to focus on the bigger picture and work together to ensure the party’s success in the upcoming elections.

In his statement, Lawal made it clear that any member who continues to promote division within the party would face serious consequences. He reminded everyone that the party is built on principles of justice, fairness, and respect for the party’s constitution.
