Disunity among Osogbo’s political stakeholders may stand in the way of achieving the dream of having an Osogbo indigene as the governor of Osun State by 2030. Muniru Raji, the Special Adviser on Political Matters to Governor Ademola Adeleke, made this known during the Osogbo Affairs Forum stakeholders’ meeting held in Osogbo.
Raji emphasized that the town must come together to overcome internal divisions and work toward their shared political goals. According to him, Osogbo has the potential to lead the state, but unity is essential to making that dream a reality.
“Osogbo has the potential to lead Osun State, but disunity among our people remains a significant barrier. Without a united front, achieving the dream of producing a governor from Osogbo will be nearly impossible,” he said.
This call for unity comes amidst discussions about zoning the governorship ticket to the Osun West Senatorial District in 2026 by some political parties.
Addressing criticism about his decision to support a senatorial candidate from another town instead of an Osogbo indigene, Raji stood by his actions. He said his decision was driven by fairness, competence, and the broader interest of Osun State.
“I stand by my decision to support a candidate from another town for the Senate. It was not about neglecting Osogbo but about doing what was best for the larger interest of Osun State,” he explained.
Raji also warned against individuals exploiting the “Osogbo Agenda” for personal gains. He urged stakeholders to focus on genuine efforts to advance Osogbo’s collective interests rather than using it for manipulation.
“I strongly warn those using the Osogbo Agenda for their selfish interests to desist. Such actions only deepen divisions and hinder our progress as a community,” he said.
The stakeholders’ meeting brought together key leaders from Osogbo to discuss critical political and developmental issues affecting the community. Raji’s message was clear: Osogbo’s dream of producing a governor in 2030 can only be achieved through unity and collective effort.
If the people of Osogbo can come together, they stand a better chance of advancing their political aspirations and securing a brighter future for their community.
