Court Orders Arrest Of Mercy Chinwo’s Manager Over Alleged $345,000 Diversion

The Federal High Court in Lagos has directed the arrest of Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, the manager of popular gospel artist Mercy Chinwo.

Justice Alexander Owoeye issued this order on January 16, 2025, following a request by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). According to EFCC’s lawyer, Mrs. Bilikisu Buhari, the motion was filed under the 1999 Constitution and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, to compel Onyedikachukwu to appear in court over allegations of misconduct.

An affidavit presented by EFCC investigator Michael Idoko detailed a complaint from Mercy Chinwo accusing her manager of financial dishonesty. Onyedikachukwu allegedly collected royalties from her digital platforms and live events but failed to provide proper records or distribute her share. The affidavit claims he diverted $345,000 for his own use.

The EFCC explained that attempts to apprehend the manager had been unsuccessful, prompting the court to issue an arrest warrant. If he remains unreachable, the EFCC plans to release a public notice.

The next court hearing is scheduled for January 24, 2025, where Onyedikachukwu is expected to appear to address the allegations.
