The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has published its latest report on fuel prices, showing sharp increases in the average prices of petrol and diesel across Nigeria in November 2024.
According to the Petrol Price Watch report, the average price of a litre of petrol rose to N1,214.17 in November 2024 from N648.93 in November 2023. This represents an 87.10% increase over the past year.
When compared to October 2024, the average petrol price also climbed by 2.48%, up from N1,184.83 per litre.

- Benue: N1,365.16 per litre
- Borno: N1,331.94 per litre
- Adamawa: N1,319.85 per litre
- Lowest Prices:
- Lagos: N1,092.79 per litre
- Katsina: N1,121.25 per litre
- Kano: N1,152.86 per litre
The South-East recorded the highest regional petrol prices, with an average of N1,257.72 per litre, while the South-West had the lowest, averaging N1,153.94 per litre.
In its Diesel Price Watch, the NBS reported that the average price of diesel jumped to N1,446.83 per litre in November 2024 from N1,055.57 per litre in November 2023, marking a 37.07% increase.
Compared to October 2024, diesel prices rose slightly by 0.38%, from N1,441.28 per litre.

- Borno: N1,751.15 per litre
- Lowest Prices:
- Oyo: N1,250.71 per litre
- Ogun: N1,258.08 per litre
- Lagos: N1,262.38 per litre
The North-East recorded the highest diesel prices at N1,676.11 per litre, while the South-West had the lowest average of N1,303.61 per litre.
