Gov Makinde Speaks On Contesting For Presidency In 2027

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has dismissed rumors suggesting that he plans to run for president in 2027. In a recent interview with the Nigerian Tribune, the governor made it clear that his focus is entirely on fulfilling his responsibilities as the leader of Oyo State.

Makinde, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), addressed questions about his potential presidential ambitions. He stressed that his priority is completing the tasks at hand for the people of Oyo State, rather than looking ahead to the 2027 presidential race.

Despite speculation that he might challenge President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next election, Makinde clarified that he has no intentions of running for president. Instead, he remains dedicated to delivering on his mandate as governor, ensuring that the people of Oyo State continue to benefit from his leadership.

“My focus at the moment is the big work that the people of Oyo State gave me,” Makinde stated. “I have done some work, but I still have quite a lot to do.”

For now, Governor Makinde’s attention is firmly fixed on his current role, and he reassured the public that he is not considering a presidential bid in 2027.

He said, “I have a big work that the people of Oyo State have given to me. I have done some and still have quite a lot to do. My focus is not to become president in 2027, but to deliver on the mandate given to me by Oyo State people.”
