A tragic incident in Ogun State has left many in shock as a 22-year-old woman, Iyanu Adedeji, was arrested for allegedly stabbing her husband, Funsho Jimoh, to death during an argument.

The couple, who lived in the Gbonagun area of Abeokuta, had been married for eight years and shared two children. According to reports, the incident occurred on December 30, 2024, when Funsho accused Iyanu of infidelity. The argument escalated into a fight, during which Iyanu reportedly stabbed her husband in the chest with a domestic knife.

After the incident, Iyanu rushed her husband to the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, but it was too late—doctors confirmed him dead. Realizing the gravity of her actions, she reported herself to the police, bringing her husband’s body in a vehicle.

Police officers visited the crime scene and recovered the knife. Iyanu is currently in custody, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

Speaking on the matter, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and arrest. She also noted that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has urged couples to resolve conflicts peacefully and avoid resorting to violence.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the importance of finding non-violent ways to handle disagreements in relationships.
