The Nigerian government has received an important financial boost with a $255 million loan from the China Development Bank (CDB) to help fund the construction of the Kaduna-Kano railway. This loan is the first installment of the total amount allocated for the project, which is expected to improve transportation between the two major cities.
The Kaduna-Kano railway is part of broader infrastructure projects under the Belt and Road Initiative, which was discussed at the 2023 Forum for International Cooperation. CDB announced that the project has been progressing smoothly and that it will continue to collaborate with Nigerian officials to ensure the timely release of future funding and manage the project effectively.
Once completed, the railway will span 203 kilometers, providing a direct rail link between Kano and Kaduna, making travel more convenient and fostering regional economic development.
