Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), recently marked his 60th birthday by sharing a personal reflection on his life and career. Kyari, who started as an Almajiri school pupil, has risen to become the leader of Africa’s largest energy company.

In his heartfelt social media post, Kyari expressed gratitude to Allah for sparing his life and guiding him through an extraordinary journey. Born on January 8, 1965, Kyari has spent over three decades in the oil and gas industry, where he has held key leadership roles.

Kyari thanked former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting him with the significant responsibility of serving as the last Group Managing Director of the NNPC and the first CEO of NNPC Limited. Reflecting on his life, he described it as a mix of challenges, triumphs, and lessons, all of which he attributed to divine grace.
