The Nigeria Customs Service has responded to a widely circulated video showing its officers involved in a physical altercation with Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) at the AYA Roundabout in Abuja, at the VIO Office, on Friday, May 24.
The video, which gained traction on Tuesday, May 28, depicted a confrontation between Customs officers and VIO officers, accompanied by intermittent gunshots, at the VIO premises. Subsequently, police officers arrived at the scene to restore calm.
In an official statement, Chief Superintendent of Customs and National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, denounced the incident and assured that an investigation is underway. Disciplinary actions will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
