The Nigerian Military recorded remarkable successes in its operations across the country in 2024. According to Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, over 10,900 terrorists were neutralized, 12,500 suspects were arrested, and 7,063 hostages were rescued. These efforts highlight the military’s commitment to restoring peace and tackling security challenges nationwide.

In addition to combating terrorism, the troops successfully disrupted crude oil theft worth over ₦68.4 billion and dismantled numerous illegal refining sites.
North-East (Operation Hadin Kai)
- Terrorists Eliminated: 3,151
- Hostages Rescued: 1,605
- Weapons Seized: 1,802 AK47 rifles, 42,439 rounds of special ammunition
North-West (Operation Hadarin Daji)
- Terrorists Neutralized: 2,906
- Hostages Rescued: 2,616
- Weapons Recovered: 1,450 AK47 rifles, 31,999 rounds of special ammunition
North-Central (Operations Safe Haven & Whirl Stroke)
- Extremists Neutralized: 1,047
- Hostages Freed: 1,782
- Weapons Seized: 549 AK47 rifles, 19,577 rounds of ammunition
South-South (Operation Delta Safe)
- Prevented the theft of over 56 million liters of crude oil.
- Neutralized 78 terrorists and dismantled 2,612 illegal refining sites.
South-East (Operation UDO KA)
- Terrorists Eliminated: 734
- Hostages Rescued: 372
- Sustained efforts against IPOB/ESN activities.
Major General Buba emphasized that the fight against terrorism is not solely the military’s responsibility but requires collective efforts. He urged citizens to support the troops as they remain dedicated and motivated in their mission to protect the nation.
As 2024 ends, the Nigerian Military stands ready to build on these achievements in 2025, ensuring peace and security for all citizens.
