Drones Used By Terrorists, Not Military Grade, Pose No Threat- Defence Spokesman

Major-General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, has clarified that the drones used by terrorist groups in Nigeria are not military-grade and do not pose a serious threat to the country’s fight against terrorism.

During a press briefing on Friday in Abuja, Buba discussed a recent airstrike incident in Sokoto State and reassured the public that the use of drones in warfare is not new. He emphasized that the drones being used by terrorists are basic models, not professional or military-grade.

“These are not advanced drones; they are more like toys that terrorists have modified by adding simple equipment to them. These drones are not very effective,” Buba explained.

Despite their limited capabilities, Buba assured that the military is actively working to address the threat posed by these drones.

In addition, Buba dismissed rumors of a foreign military base in Nigeria, particularly a supposed French base. He called the claims misleading and stated that Nigeria will not serve as a base for foreign conflicts. He further criticized the spread of such rumors, stating that they serve as distractions from real issues that need attention.
