A 16-year-old student, Ajana Oluwa, from Commercial High School in Akure, Ondo State, has been arrested by the Amotekun Corps for sexually assaulting his 24-year-old neighbor at knifepoint. Oluwa was among 29 suspects paraded by the Corps, who were arrested for various crimes, including attempted murder, r@pe, and burglary.

The teenager admitted that the crime was unprovoked and expressed regret for his actions. The arrest is part of the Amotekun Corps’ ongoing effort to tackle crime in Ondo State, with increased patrols and intelligence gathering to improve security, particularly during the holiday season.

The Corps’ Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, provided an update on the state’s security situation, highlighting the arrests of individuals involved in violent crimes like attempted murder, illegal possession of firearms, and threats to life. Among those arrested were also suspects involved in theft, including a notorious criminal connected to vehicle theft and a serial burglar.

The Amotekun Corps has made significant progress in combating crime, with no kidnapping incidents reported in the state’s capital for the past two weeks. However, abductions have been reported at the borders with Edo and Kogi, and efforts are being made to rescue the victims.

To ensure safety during the festive season, the Corps deployed 1,200 personnel across Ondo State and conducted regular patrols. The Commander urged residents to stay alert, report suspicious activities, and avoid buying second-hand items without proper receipts.

Additionally, the Amotekun Corps is working closely with Ekiti State to resolve a high-profile case, further strengthening security in the region.
