Christmas is a time of joy and celebration for Christians around the world. It is a season to remember the birth of Jesus Christ, embrace peace, and spend time with loved ones. However, Sir Chikwe Udensi, a security consultant with INTERPOL, has raised concerns about the rising tragedies overshadowing this festive season in Nigeria.
Speaking with ABN TV, Sir Udensi shared his disappointment about the unfortunate events, including violence, kidnappings, and road accidents, that have marred this year’s celebrations. He highlighted a tragic road accident in Abia State, where many lost their lives while traveling to reunite with their families for the holidays.
“Christmas is meant to be joyful, but tragedies like these rob it of its true meaning,” Sir Udensi said.
He believes such incidents can be avoided through proper safety measures and greater awareness. Sir Udensi also urged Nigerians to embrace the true spirit of Christmas, focusing on peace, love, and unity.
“Let’s not allow these avoidable tragedies to define the season. Christmas should bring people together in joy and celebration, not sorrow,” he concluded.
As we celebrate this special time of year, let us prioritize safety and take steps to ensure a peaceful and meaningful Christmas for ourselves and others.
