Boko Haram Leader and Five Members Surrender to Troops in Borno

During Operation Lake Sanity II, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) announced that a Boko Haram commander, Adamu Muhammad, along with five other fighters, surrendered to Sector 3 MNJTF in Monguno, Borno State.

The terrorists escaped from the ISWAP faction’s hideout in Jubillaram, Southern Lake Chad, and surrendered on Thursday, May 23, 2024. Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Chief Military Public Information Officer in N’djamena, Chad, shared this news in a statement on Friday, May 24. Adamu, 22, had been involved in many terrorist attacks and was active in Kangarwa, Alagarno, Doro Naira, and Dogon Chikwu in Kukawa Local Government Area, Borno State.

When they surrendered, they handed over 11 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and one anti-aircraft warhead.

The other fighters who surrendered are:

  • Isah Ali, 18
  • Hassan Modu, 18
  • Nasir Idris, 23, an escort for the Commander of Jubillaram Usman Rash
  • Abba Aji, 21
  • Abubakar Isah, 20

These fighters are currently being investigated. Since Operation Lake Sanity II began on April 23, 2024, a total of 119 terrorists have surrendered. The MNJTF urges other terrorists to surrender and embrace peace, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring a secure environment in the Lake Chad Basin region.
