President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany is visiting Nigeria for two days to deepen the partnership between the two nations. His visit begins on Tuesday and highlights the growing collaboration in politics, business, and culture.

During his time in Abuja, President Steinmeier will meet with Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the President of ECOWAS, Alieu Omar Touray. These meetings are expected to focus on fostering stronger ties between Germany and West Africa.

Following his engagements in Abuja, the President will travel to Lagos. In Lagos, he will meet business leaders, visit a start-up hub, and engage with cultural and civil society figures, including Dr. Nike Okundaye and Prof. Wole Soyinka. Additionally, he will tour the city to learn about its urban development, environmental challenges, and social issues.

The President will be accompanied by a high-level business delegation, including CEOs and board members from Germany’s leading companies in IT, high-tech, and energy. Their presence reflects Germany’s increasing interest in exploring investment opportunities in Nigeria.

This visit underscores Germany’s recognition of Nigeria as an important partner in Africa, not just economically but also politically and culturally.
