Dismissed Soldier and Seven Others Arrested for Robbery and Fraud in Enugu

In a recent operation, the Enugu State police arrested a dismissed soldier and seven others for their involvement in armed robbery and financial fraud. The suspects are members of an interstate criminal syndicate that specializes in theft and fraud.

The arrested individuals are Ismaila Isah (23), Abbas Usman (33), Mubarak Garba (24), Sadik Ahmed (the dismissed soldier), Abubakar Haruna (32), Chukwuebuka Obiri (22), and Bright Omeniru (22). They were arrested in a series of coordinated operations by the police.

It all started when Isah was caught with a locally made pistol, N300,450 in cash, and stolen goods. His arrest led to the capture of the other members of the group at their hideouts in the New Garriki area of Enugu South Local Government Area.

The suspects confessed to carrying out multiple armed robberies across Enugu. They also admitted to using stolen mobile phones and SIM cards to commit fraud. Furthermore, they revealed that they sold the stolen items in Imo and other states.

The police recovered firearms, ammunition, cash, SIM cards, and other stolen goods from the suspects. Once the investigation is finished, the suspects will be charged in court.

This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of the Enugu police to crack down on crime and protect residents from such criminal activities.
