Arsenal Fan Shot Dead Celebrating Win Over Man United in Uganda

A tragic event unfolded in Lukaya town, Uganda, where an Arsenal fan was shot dead while celebrating his team’s victory over Manchester United. The incident occurred at a local restaurant about 100 kilometers from Kampala, Uganda’s capital, following Arsenal’s 2-0 win.

The celebration was filled with excitement, but the noise upset the restaurant manager, who asked the security guard to intervene. The fans, however, ignored the warning and continued to cheer loudly. In an attempt to stop the noise, the restaurant owner turned off the power. This move only angered the fans more, and their celebration grew louder.

It was at this point that the guard allegedly opened fire on the crowd, fatally shooting 30-year-old John Ssenyonga. Another fan, Lawrence Mugejera, was injured and rushed to the hospital. The guard and the building manager have fled, and the police are currently searching for them. Authorities have recovered a gun at the scene and have urged fans to manage their excitement in the future.

“We condemn the incident and we ask anyone with information that can help the police to bring the suspect to book to speak up,” he said.

This tragic incident highlights the dangers of excessive reactions to sporting events and serves as a reminder of the need for safety and respect, even in moments of celebration.
