Governor Fubara Inaugurates Reconstructed Okehi/Umuola/Eberi Link Road

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has shown his commitment to progress by commissioning the newly reconstructed Okehi/Umuola/Eberi Link Road. This vital 11.8km road connects the farming communities of Etche and Omuma Local Government Areas, known as major food-producing regions in Rivers State.

The project was completed in just five months and built to modern standards, with a width of 7.3 meters, a 150mm stone base, and a durable 50mm surface layer. Governor Fubara explained that the road is not just about better transportation but also about empowering local farmers and boosting the economy.

For years, farmers in Etche and Omuma faced significant challenges transporting their produce due to bad roads. With the new road, they can now access markets more easily and quickly, reducing losses and increasing their earnings. Staples such as yam, cassava, plantain, and vegetables will now reach buyers fresher and faster.

Governor Fubara stressed that his administration is committed to ensuring all parts of Rivers State benefit from development. Speaking at the commissioning, he acknowledged the neglect of Omuma by past governments and pledged to bring positive change to the area.

“This road isn’t just about connecting places; it’s about connecting people to opportunities and creating a more inclusive Rivers State,” he said.

The project is part of a larger vision for regional connectivity, which includes the ongoing construction of the Omodu-Eberi-Omuma Road. This road will eventually link Rivers State to Abia State, further enhancing trade and movement.

Despite political distractions, Governor Fubara remains focused on delivering results. The completion of the Okehi/Umuola/Eberi Link Road demonstrates his dedication to improving the lives of Rivers State residents.

This project has brought real benefits to the people of Etche and Omuma, proving that development is a priority for the governor. With better roads, the region’s farmers and residents now have new opportunities for growth, prosperity, and a brighter future.

Governor Fubara’s leadership is a clear example of what focused governance can achieve, making life better for everyone in Rivers State.
