In another development, Governor Nwifuru has come under fire from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) after he threatened to dismiss striking workers. This follows disagreements over the implementation of the ₦70,000 minimum wage.

During a press briefing, the Governor warned that salaries would be withheld from workers who were on strike and that replacements would be made if necessary. He further claimed that the state government had approved ₦75,000 as the minimum wage and that payments were being processed.

However, NLC President Joe Ajaero strongly criticized the Governor’s statements, calling them irresponsible. Ajaero urged workers to strengthen their strike action in protest of the non-implementation of the agreed-upon wage increase.

Governor Nwifuru’s actions are causing a stir in the state, as he tries to balance accountability within his administration and address worker dissatisfaction.
