The Nigerian military has successfully stopped a terrorist attack in Yar Galadima village, located in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State. This operation was carried out by the Joint Task Force in the North-West, known as Operation Fansan Yamma, in the early hours of Sunday.
Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, the Joint Media Coordinator, shared details of the operation in a statement on Monday, December 2, 2024. He revealed that the military acted swiftly after receiving an urgent call from villagers and vigilantes about an ongoing terrorist attack.
“The troops quickly responded to protect the residents and restore peace,” Abdullahi said. On their way to the village, the soldiers encountered ambushes at two locations set up by the terrorists. The troops successfully cleared both ambush sites, neutralizing several terrorists while others escaped with severe injuries.
In addition to ground efforts, the air component of Operation Fansan Yamma provided vital support. Aircraft were deployed to target the fleeing terrorists, leading to further losses among the attackers.
Abdullahi highlighted the military’s dedication to eliminating terrorist threats and ensuring the safety of communities in the North-West region.
The operation is another step in the fight against insecurity, bringing hope for peace and stability to the affected areas.
