The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has released its weather forecast for the next three days, from Wednesday to Friday, predicting a mix of dust haze, sunshine, and thunderstorms across the country.
On Wednesday, the northern region will experience moderate dust haze, with visibility expected to drop to between 2 and 5 kilometers in states like Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Sokoto, Kebbi, Jigawa, and Kaduna. By Thursday, slight dust haze is expected across the region, and Friday will bring clearer skies with sunny weather.
The North Central region will have slight dust haze throughout the forecast period. This will create hazy but sunny conditions suitable for outdoor activities, although precautions should be taken against dust exposure.
In the southern region, the mornings will generally be sunny with scattered clouds. However, specific areas like Lagos may experience mist on Wednesday, while Bayelsa and Delta are expected to have mist on Thursday. Later in the afternoons and evenings, there are chances of localized thunderstorms with light to moderate rain over states like Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Edo.
NiMet has urged the public to be cautious, particularly those with asthma or other respiratory challenges, as dust particles in the air could pose health risks. Airline operators are also advised to use NiMet’s weather reports for safe and efficient flight planning.
This weather update serves as a reminder for Nigerians to stay informed and prepared for changing conditions. Whether it’s hazy skies or thunderstorms, NiMet’s forecast ensures everyone can plan accordingly.
Stay safe and stay updated!
