In a major operation, the Edo State Police arrested two suspected cultists who were found in possession of firearms. The suspects, Osamudiamen James, 44, and Omokaro Joseph, 44, were detained by the police’s Raiders Squad in Benin City.
The Commissioner of Police, Umoru Ozigi, confirmed that both suspects are members of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity. James was initially arrested on Iyekemuose Street in Benin City, where he cooperated with police officers and led them to an armory. There, Omokaro Joseph, also known as Joe Best, managed to escape.
Despite the escape, the police followed leads and captured Joseph later. During their interrogation, James confessed to being part of the cult group and revealed that Joseph was responsible for the armory. Joseph admitted to selling guns to various individuals in Benin City and surrounding areas.
Police recovered several weapons during the investigation, including five pump-action guns, three single-barrel guns, and 18 cartridges. The suspects will soon face legal charges in court.
