Mia le Roux, Miss South Africa, Withdraws from Miss Universe Competition

Mia le Roux, the winner of Miss South Africa 2024, has decided to withdraw from the Miss Universe 2024 competition due to health issues. The grand finale of the global beauty pageant will take place on November 16 in Mexico, but Mia will not be competing.

In a statement released on Friday morning, the Miss South Africa organization explained that Mia’s decision was based on health concerns. Mia herself shared a heartfelt message, expressing her deep gratitude for the support from her fellow South Africans. She acknowledged the challenge of making such a decision, given the hopes placed on her, but emphasized that focusing on her health and recovery was her top priority.

“I am profoundly thankful for the unwavering support from SA during my time at Miss Universe. Making this decision has been incredibly challenging, knowing the dreams and hopes that have been placed on me,” Mia said. “However, I’m deeply grateful to have the opportunity to focus on my health and recovery so I may continue to serve my country with full strength.”

Mia made history as the first deaf contestant to take part in the Miss Universe competition. She was one of 120 contestants vying for the prestigious title before deciding to step back and prioritize her well-being. Mia’s supporters, both in South Africa and around the world, have rallied behind her as she takes this time for healing and recovery.

While Mia may no longer be in the running for the Miss Universe crown this year, her journey has inspired many, and she remains committed to representing South Africa with pride in the future.
