Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has criticized lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju for his comments on recent demolitions in Abuja.
INFOLAND reports that last week, Adeyanju, along with Vincent Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMark, led a protest against the FCT Minister, condemning the demolition of Ruga, a settlement along the Airport Road in Abuja.
Adeyanju argued that “there is no reason for this demolition,” urging President Bola Tinubu to quickly step in and address the issue.
Responding on Wednesday, Wike told selected journalists that Adeyanju was only making a fuss because he had no job.
Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, claimed that Adeyanju once requested the role of Publicity Secretary for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), but Wike refused to grant his request.
Wike explained, “I saw this young man called Adeyanju from Kogi State. He approached me, wanting to be the PDP National Publicity Secretary, but I said no.”
He continued, “I told him he couldn’t have the role, and I still stand by that decision. Now he’s suddenly turned into a civil society activist.”
Wike further added that because Adeyanju doesn’t have a job, he chose to join civil society activism instead.
