In recent days, Equatorial Guinea has been rocked by a scandal involving Baltasar Ebang Engonga, the former Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF). Engonga’s wife was caught on video in an intimate act with another man, a tape that quickly made its way online and sparked widespread discussion.
The incident came to light after popular social media critic Martins Ortse, also known as VeryDarkMan, posted about the video on Instagram last Saturday, drawing public attention to the affair.
Sharing pictures of the Engonga’s wife from the video footage, VeryDarkMan said: “Just when I thought it was all over about this Equatorial Guinea man, the whole thing is getting more interesting.
“l just saw a video of his wife and another man, if you watch this video; it’s crazy. If you see how another man was na*cking his wife.”
Engonga was already under scrutiny due to a separate investigation involving fraud, during which investigators reportedly discovered around 400 s*x tapes in his possession. These tapes allegedly feature Engonga with various women. Following these shocking revelations, he was immediately dismissed from his role at ANIF and subsequently taken into custody.
The scandal has stirred up significant controversy on social media, with many voicing concern over the violation of privacy and the negative impact on the individuals involved. In response to the unfolding events, First Lady Constancia Mangue Obiang expressed her anger and concern. During a meeting with Prime Minister Manuel Osa Nsue, she called for urgent government action to protect the dignity and privacy of Equatoguinean women in today’s digital world, emphasizing the need for stronger regulations in the age of online sharing.
The situation highlights a growing demand for digital privacy protections as more incidents involving private content leaking online come to light. For Equatorial Guinea, the scandal has become a flashpoint in the conversation on privacy, respect, and accountability in public life.
