Burna Boy, Asake, Rema, and More Earn Nominations at the 67th Grammys

The nominations for the 67th Grammy Awards are out, and Nigerian artists are leading the way. The prestigious event has given a huge spotlight to Nigerian talent, especially in the Best African Music Performance category, which is completely filled with Nigerian stars.

The nominees in this category include:

  • Yemi Alade with her song “Tomorrow”
  • Asake featuring Wizkid with “MMS”
  • Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay with “Sensational”
  • Burna Boy with “Higher”
  • Tems with “Love Me JeJe”

Chris Brown is the only non-Nigerian artist in this list, and his track features two Nigerian artists, Davido and Lojay.

At the 66th Grammy Awards, the inaugural Best African Music Performance award was given to South African singer Tyla for her song “Water.” Now, Nigeria is claiming the spotlight in this category.

But that’s not all! Nigerian artists Rema and Tems have also been nominated in the Best Global Music Album category. Tems’ album “Born In The Wild” and Rema’s “HEIS” will compete against other albums like “Alkebulan II” by Matt B and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and “Paisajes” by Ciro Hurtado.

Tems is also up for the Best R&B Song award with her hit “Burning.” She faces tough competition from other talented women like Kehlani, Coco Jones, Muni Long, and SZA.

These nominations show just how much Nigerian music has made an impact on the global stage, with artists like Burna Boy, Asake, Rema, and Tems bringing the sounds of Africa to the world’s biggest music event. The 67th Grammys are sure to be a big moment for Nigerian artists!
