President Bola Tinubu recently promoted Olufemi Oluyede, the acting Chief of Army Staff, to the rank of Lieutenant General. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa, where Tinubu commended the military for their bravery and commitment to ensuring Nigeria’s safety.
During the event, the President stated, “It is both an honor and a privilege to decorate you today. This recognition reflects your commitment and service to the Nigerian military.” He acknowledged the military’s role in maintaining peace and security in the nation.
Tinubu assured the armed forces that the government values their input and is dedicated to promoting peace and prosperity. He highlighted the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and banditry, crediting the military’s teamwork for the progress made.
“The synergy among you has calmed the country, and we need that stability to continue,” he added.
In his response, Oluyede expressed gratitude for the promotion and reiterated his commitment to the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja. He emphasized the importance of continuing to work towards peace across Nigeria.
