In Minna, Niger State, police have arrested two men for stealing a mobile phone from a victim during a tricycle ride. The suspects, identified as Azifi Lawal (25), also known as Maka, and Abubakar Saidu, known as Yaro, were taken into custody by officers from the Kpakungu Police Division on October 31, 2024.
According to SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer, the arrests came after a victim reported the robbery. The police acted quickly based on reliable information and arrested the suspects connected to the crime.
The robbery occurred when the victim took a tricycle from the Gidan-Kwano area to Dama. During the ride, he sat next to the two suspects, who conspired together, attacked him, and stole his phone before fleeing into nearby bushes.
During questioning, both suspects admitted to the robbery and revealed they had committed other similar crimes. They also mentioned a third gang member, Mubarak, from the Dutsen-Kura area, who is still at large. The police are continuing their investigation to recover the stolen phone and apprehend the other suspect.
