Wife Appeals to Court to Prevent Husband’s Divorce

In a recent case at the Area Court in Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, Kwara State, a woman named Mariam Alagbede made a heartfelt appeal. She asked the court to help persuade her husband, Muhammed Bashir, not to proceed with their divorce. Mariam shared that she deeply values her marriage and wants it to continue, despite the problems they’ve been facing.

“I don’t want divorce. Please sir, help me beg him to forgive me for anything I might have done wrong,” she said.

Her husband, Muhammed, explained that after three years of marriage, he feels drained and no longer connected to Mariam. He cited a lack of love and concerns about her not being submissive as reasons for seeking a divorce.

Judge Toyin Aluko, who presided over the case, encouraged Mariam to involve both families to seek a resolution. The judge suggested that they try to settle their differences outside of court and explore ways to heal their relationship through family support.

The court scheduled a follow-up for January 14 to hear updates on the families’ efforts toward reconciliation. Both parties now have time to consider peaceful solutions and reflect on their relationship’s future.
