The Kogi State Government has exciting news for residents: federal approval has been granted to construct an international airport in Zariagi. This development was confirmed by Kingsley Fanwo, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communication, in a statement released on October 25. The approval comes from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, in a letter dated October 9, 2024.

Governor Usman Ododo is fully committed to ensuring the timely completion of the airport. This project is expected to serve ten neighboring states, making travel more efficient and reducing congestion on the busy Lokoja-Abuja route. With this new airport, Kogi aims to establish itself as a significant aviation hub in Nigeria, enhancing connectivity and driving regional economic growth.

“The Ododo Administration has prioritized the establishment of an international airport for Kogi State,” Fanwo stated. “The state’s central location gives it a unique advantage to capture a significant share of the aviation service market.”
