On Monday, popular Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, famously known as Bobrisky, was arrested while attempting to leave the country through the Seme Border. The surprising incident has since gained public attention, with witnesses providing more details about the event.
According to witnesses, Bobrisky arrived at the Seme Border departure point around 1:30 am in a black Mercedes Benz SUV. Port Health officials initially tried to stop his vehicle, but the driver did not comply until they reached the Immigration checkpoint.
At the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) post, Bobrisky handed his passport to the driver for stamping. However, an immigration surveillance officer, Yusuf, noticed that the person in the car was Bobrisky. He immediately informed his senior officers and quietly alerted the Controller of Immigration at the Seme Command, Mr. Muhammad Adamu.
The surveillance officer later requested Bobrisky to come for passport stamping, but instead, Bobrisky was escorted to the controller’s office for questioning.
As the situation unfolded, Bobrisky’s lawyer arrived at the border post to find out the reason behind the arrest. Bobrisky stayed in the controller’s office until 4:00 pm, after which he was taken to the Lagos State Command of the NIS for further investigation.
The Nigeria Immigration Service confirmed the arrest later that day. Its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Kenneth Udo, explained that Bobrisky was detained because he was a “person of interest” due to recent public concerns. Bobrisky was stopped at the border to prevent him from leaving the country, and he is now undergoing questioning.
As investigations continue, more details are expected to emerge. This incident has left many wondering what led to Bobrisky’s arrest and what the outcome of the investigation will be.
