A tragic incident occurred in Edo State when gunmen ambushed quarry workers, killing a police inspector and injuring an expatriate. The attack took place in Ihivbe-Ogben, located in Owan East Local Government Area, on the evening of Thursday, October 17, 2024.
The workers were returning to their base camp when the gunmen opened fire on them. A police officer guarding the expatriate was also injured in the attack. Both the injured expatriate and the officer are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
The spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed the tragic death of the inspector and said the police, with the help of the military, are investigating the incident and tracking down the suspects.
